The Short Version

Everyfile runs entirely on your Mac. Your files, content, and activity inside the app never leave your computer. We have no servers that receive your data, no analytics SDK, no tracking.

The only personal data we (or our payment partner, Paddle) handle is what is needed to sell you a licence and answer your support emails. That's the whole story — the rest of this document spells it out.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data in connection with Everyfile (the "App"), our website https://perfectparadox.co.uk, and licence sales.

This policy is issued in compliance with:

The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
The Data Protection Act 2018
The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR)
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), where applicable to EU-based users

For the limited personal data described in Section 3, Perfect Paradox Ltd is the data controller. For your purchase transaction, Paddle acts as the Merchant of Record and is an independent data controller for the payment data it collects (see Section 4).

For everything you do inside the App, there is no controller and no processor — because the data never leaves your device and we never receive it.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

This is the most important section of this policy. The App does not collect, access, transmit, store, or process:

Your files or documents — anything you open, create, or edit with the App stays on your Mac.
Your content or activity — what you do in the App is not logged, measured, or reported to anyone.
Usage analytics or telemetry — the App contains no analytics SDK, no tracking pixels, no crash-reporting service that sends data automatically, and no phone-home functionality beyond what is disclosed in Section 5.
Personal identifiers from your Mac — no advertising IDs, no fingerprinting, no contact lists, no location.

This is verifiable: you can monitor the App's network activity with any firewall tool (e.g., Little Snitch or LuLu) and confirm that the only connections it makes are the ones listed in Section 5.

3. Data We Collect Directly

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, training AI models, or anything beyond delivering and supporting the App. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We never have and never will.

4. Payments: Paddle as Merchant of Record

We sell Everyfile through Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd, UK / Paddle Payments Ltd for certain regions). Paddle is the Merchant of Record: when you buy a licence, your purchase contract for the transaction is with Paddle, which resells the App on our behalf and handles payment processing, VAT/sales tax, invoicing, and refunds.

What this means for your data:

Paddle collects your name, email address, billing address/country, and payment details (card number, etc.) directly at checkout. We never see or store your payment card details.
Paddle shares with us your email address, country, and order details so we can deliver your licence key and provide support.
Paddle is an independent data controller for the data it collects. Its handling of your data is governed by Paddle's privacy policy: https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy

We may also disclose personal data if required by law, regulation, or court order, or where necessary to prevent fraud or protect the safety of users or the public.

5. The Only Network Connections the App Makes

The App makes only the following network connections, and nothing else:

(1) licence validation against Paddle's licensing API at activation; (2) Sparkle update check against perfectparadox.co.uk. Everyfile is otherwise fully offline and transmits no user data

Typical examples (delete those that don't apply):

Update check (Sparkle): the App periodically asks our update server whether a newer version exists. This request transmits the App version, your macOS version, and basic CPU type — no personal data, no unique identifiers used for tracking. You can disable automatic update checks in the App's preferences.
Licence activation/validation (Paddle): when you enter your licence key, the App contacts Paddle's licensing API to verify it. This transmits your licence key and an activation identifier for your Mac. It happens at activation and occasionally thereafter to confirm the licence is valid.

If the App is offline, it keeps working — none of these connections are required for normal day-to-day use after activation.

6. International Transfers

We are based in Northern Ireland (UK). Paddle is a UK company; depending on your location and payment method, payment data may be processed in the UK, EEA, or USA under Paddle's safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses, UK IDTA, and/or adequacy decisions). Our own data (licence and support emails) is processed in the UK and EEA.

7. Data Retention

You may request deletion of your licence data at any time — but note that doing so means we can no longer recover your licence key for you.

8. Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 (and the EU GDPR where applicable), you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you;
Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
Erase your data, subject to legal retention requirements;
Restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interest;
Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format;
Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or, if you are in the EEA, your local supervisory authority.

9. Data Security

For the small amount of personal data we hold: data in transit is encrypted (TLS 1.2+), stored data is encrypted at rest, and access is limited to authorised personnel. For everything inside the App, security is inherited from your own Mac — your data is exactly as secure as your machine, because it never goes anywhere else. We recommend FileVault and regular backups.

10. Children

Everyfile is a productivity tool sold to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. Purchases require agreement to Paddle's checkout terms, which require legal capacity to contract.

11. Cookies

The App itself sets no cookies and embeds no web trackers. Our website https://perfectparadox.co.uk uses only strictly necessary cookies (and Paddle's checkout sets cookies necessary to process your purchase — see Paddle's privacy policy). We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on https://perfectparadox.co.uk (and by email to licence holders where the change affects them) at least thirty (30) days before taking effect.
